Hiking on Kauai

Kauai has so many outdoor adventures that one can never do them all.  One of many favorites of mine is the hike from the rim of Waimea Canyon down to the river below.  It's the Kukui Trail, a 2,000 foot descent over a distance of 2 1/2 miles.  The hike down is relatively easy and the stream below is refreshing.  Spots are deep enough for swimming.  The hike back up is a different matter and most of it is exposed to the heat of the sun.  Take lots of water or you may get dehydrated.

Richard are there any snakes on Kauai? I was told there are none.

Hi Scott.  As far as I know there are none in the wild.  We do have scorpions and centipedes but their bite is not normally as serious as a snake bite.
