Beautiful...but a lot of rough looking country.  Are theose hills populated?

It's said to be similar to the Grand Canyon but on a smaller scale.  There's not much out there but the river at the bottom is most refreshing.

The tree seems out of place give the barren ground in the background.  That sure makes the shot intriguing.
