Kauai's mini-Grand Canyon

Kauai's Waimea Canyon is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  There are many hiking trails one can take to explore and enjoy the beauty.  This one was taken from the Canyon Trail, a modest hike providing majestic views of the canyon and the ocean beyond.  Here is one of my favorite viewpoints.

I've been to Waimea many times and the natural beauty never seems to amaze me.  How this wonderful landscape came to being, how the native Hawai'ians live and survived off of the land and the sea on the Napali Coast - just wonderful.  My wife has taken the helicopter tour (an absolute must in order to appreciate the true majesty of Waimea, I hear) and I've seen some of the videos.  Amazing. Just amazing.

Hi Martin.  It sounds like you love Kauai as most of us do.  Have you been to Maui?  It has sights that are very different but equally awesome.

You live and work in a special place.  One day I will get there and see if in person, till then thanks for the pictures.  I had no idea about this canyon before today.

Hi Dan.  When I was your age, living in Hawaii was only a dream.  Things that improve with age are wine, Scotch, and the ability cast off ties to live one's dream.
