Kauai Coco Palms Breaking News

Kauai Coco Palms Rebuild Cancelled?

I have a reliable but unconfirmed report that the owners of the Coco Palms are canceling their plans to rebuild the famous Coco Palms Resort and putting the property up for sale.  The property was severely damaged by Hurricane Iniki in 1992 and never rebuilt.  It's featured in Blue Hawaii of Elvis fame and was run by the legendary Grace Guslander in it's heyday.  Opposition to their restoration plans was reported to be behind the cancellation.  Stay tuned for confirmation of this report.

Richard - Sure hope this doesn't come to pass.  It'd be sad to see this landmark die.  Please keep us posted.

It might be nice if it could become an open community space.  Different feel from Lydgate or the beach so it would be nice complement.  Maybe Bette Midler can purchase it?!  Anybody else?  I'll chip in!
