Maui Activities--Driving the backside of Haleakala

For those who have driven the Road to Hana and arrived at 7 Sacred Pools, enjoy because if you're driving a rental car you can't proceed further without violating most car rental contracts.  If you're on a tour bus or better yet, driving your own car, then it's a fun drive to circle on around the back side of Haleakala.  Adding to the fun is a stop at the Kaupo Store, the only store around until one gets back to civilization.

Kaupo Store

You will want to chat with Manuel and Linda while you're there.

Sounds like fun.  I am a big fan of Hawaii, been to Maui and the big Island only.  Wish I could go back.

Few realize that Lindberg is buried there and are surprised that he even knew about the beautiful at the end of the winding roadway...

He wanted to live out his life in solitude after the kidnapping.  I wouldn't know where to find his burial site, Hana isn't the type of place to publicize much of anything..
