More on Kauai Lagoons & Poipu's Kukui'ula

This is to update yesterday's post on a report of work being stopped at Kauai Lagoons Resort.  Additional information has been provided in today's Garden Island Newspaper wherein Kauai Lagoons developers are putting a positive spin on what they call a temporary postponement.  Per a newspaper interview with the project director, the master plan always called for a multi-year project.  The change is that 87 units originally planned for completion in 2009 has been slipped to 2010.  And consistent with the Pacific Business News article referenced yesterday, it is reported that infrastructure work, including landscaping, will continue.  The first building and its amenities is still planned for completion in January 2009.

Also in Kauai development news, there appears to be somewhat of a slowdown on the huge Kukui'ula project in the Koloa/Poipu area.  According to the newspaper report, construction is continuing "on pace" although there will be some stretch-out of the residential product due to a slowdown in sales.  I have been watching the shopping village go vertical and I hear through the coconut wireless that it will be opening next year.  This part of the project was looking impressive 3 months ago (see photo).  Since that time, much additional progress has been made and the new bypass road (behind the barricades) is now open for traffic.

Hi Richard, thanks for all the recent comments on my posts.  I don't know how I missed so many of yours.  I guess I been preoccupied trying to figure out Twitter and Facebook, not to mention getting out in the world to sell a little real estate.  Have a great weekend!

Oh, and Top Producer is all I've ever used.  I hope to get a new listing this weekend and I'm going to try to implement some things I've not tried before....like setting up a customer webpage where I can post activities and they can check it whenever they like.

Hi Ann - So you are doing the Twitter thing now.  I decided I couldn't do it all so have not done that one.  Good luck with it.

Your webpage sounds like a good idea, especially if you can password protect it.

Richard, nice updates on what is going on in the area.  I'm envious of you living out there... was 19 degrees here yesterday morning.  Someone in HI was complaining yesterday that it was getting down to 62 in her area!  How terrible!

Charlie - Yes, I heard on the news that you were having unusually cold weather for this time of year.  As for Hawaii, none of our homes here are heated so 62 is cold indeed!

Richard,

Doesn't it make you feel good to see all those zeros lining up behind the 6?!  Congrats.

Hi Mike.  It took a minute before I realized you were referring to my points.  I've become an addict to AR and like most, have formed friendships far and wide.  Thanks for the congrats but my points pale in comparison to your 1/4 million.  You're a class act!

I think a lot of projects will be put on the slow track until things become more certain with the economy.  It certainly looks like you are enjoying your experience in the Rain.  It is nice to meet you Richard.

Hi Joan - Thanks for your comment.  Those are nice photos on your profile.  I'm formerly from the East Coast and sometimes feel a little homesick.
